I've been reading through these debates and those on other forums and realised I know so little about the contents of the koran and the bible that it's hard for me to understand the differences. That's not to mention not a word of any other scriptures. I know that both muslims and christians believe in a god and I'm told that the bible is, 'the word of god'. Is this also true of the koran for muslims? If so, are the two scriptures the difference between these faiths and for that matter any other faiths? In other words, is the debate about which book is the word of god? For those wondering about my motive for asking I'll briefly explain where I'm coming from. My stance on the existence of god is that I don't know one way or the other. I neither believe nor disbelieve and try to keep an open mind. I have other points I want to make but I need to learn the basic facts first and would be grateful for accurate information without interpretation. Thanks.
