Richard Stallman

Richard Stallman is generally acknowledged as the founder of Free Software. He started the GNU project, in 1984, to develop the free operating system GNU—now the basis of all GNU/ Linux systems. As President of the Free Software Foundation, he speaks around the world on software and copyright issues. He previously worked at the MIT Artificial Intelligence Lab.
