About Hall Gardner

Hall Gardner is professor and chair of the department of International and Comparative Politics, American University of Paris; a member of the Group of Experts of the EastWest Institute that produced the report: Euro-Atlantic Security: One Vision, Three Paths after the August 2008 Georgia-Russia War. He is co-editor of The Ashgate Companion to War: Origins and Prevention (Ashgate: Feburary 2012) and author of American Global Strategy and the ‘War on Terrorism’ (Ashgate, 2007); Averting Global War (Palgrave, 2010); and a book of poetry, The Wake-Up Blast (Narcissus Press, 2008).

Angered by the decision to push NATO eastwards and the prospect of other post-Soviet states soon joining the alliance, Russia has become engaged in a game of high-risk brinkmanship with the US.
