About Ingrid Marie Breidlid

Ingrid Marie Breidlid is a doctoral researcher at PRIO. She has several years of research and work experience related to Sudan and South Sudan, and has previously been employed by the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs, the UN Mission in Sudan, the UN Development Programme and the Norwegian Embassy in Khartoum, Sudan. She holds an MSc in violence, conflict and development from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London.

Sudan and South Sudan: negotiating amidst brinkmanship and armed rebellions

The 22 September deadline approaches, with little sign of an  agreement on outstanding issues. A piecemeal approach would allow the oil issue to be resolved now, but its presence as part of a comprehensive package of agreements may be the only thing keeping negotiators at the table over the harder issues.
