About Juanita León

Juanita León is a journalist, writer and lecturer. She has worked as a reporter for the Wall Street Journal, and as an editor for both El Tiempo (Colombia’s largest daily) and Unidad de Paz. In 2000 she joined the current affairs magazine La Semana, and shortly after became editor of the online version of the publication: www.semana.com. Her books include Años de fuego (2001) and No somos machos pero somos muchos ([Five stories of civil resistance in Colombia] 2004). In 2006 she was named a Nieman Fellow by Harvard University. She currently teaches journalism at the Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá.
