I'm sure Oscar Heck gets a raging stiffie at the mere thought of being persecuted by the CIA, but I very much doubt that they'd bother; he's pretty small in the overall scheme of things. I must say that any American attempt to overthrow or subvert Chavez (and I think there's been some action in that direction, though it's wildly exaggerated) is stupid and counterproductive. Chavez was elected, he's the legitimate ruler, and the corrupt, exploitive, and effete Venezuelan traditional ruling class didn't deserve anyone's support. That doesn't mean Chavez is a good ruler. He's not. They wanted him, though, and they got him, there's nothing anyone should try to do about it. He's destroying himself very effectively anyway, all one can do is hope that when the inevitable implosion occurs the Venezuelans can find some ground between the old oligarchs and mindless populism. The process won't be easy on the Venezuelans, but there are narrow limits to what any outside actor can do about it.
