My friend can you please quote a more reliable source like a news clipping coming direct from Musharraf.

I have heard his latest speech, where on a question asked by journalist regarding the peace process with India and Kashmir issue he responded that he is in contact with the honorable Indian PM and has proposed demilitarization and autonomy as a way forward to ease lives of Kashmiris on both sides. However there was no mentioning of what you have quoted.

I think what you are saying here is a misinterpretation on part of your source.

Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf has said he may consider "taking steps backward" if India does not respond to his self-rule and demilitarisation proposals on Kashmir.

He however told Kashmiri leaders that they should "once and for all" give up their independence proposition as it was "not durable and no time should be wasted on such futile exercises".

Panthers Party chief Bhim Singh told reporters here on Saturday that "Musharraf complained India was not responding to the proposals that he had been repeatedly been making to New Delhi. He said if India does not respond, he may consider 'taking steps backward'".
