Pupri:

I was not impolite, merely honest. I don't think those comments (spoken in private) need to be apologized for. That Kissinger chose to shows that he is a moral and polite person. Nixon, unfortunately, can no longer apologize to anyone for anything.

Dear Pupri,

Yes, the beheading on Nick Berg was filmed and placed on the internet by his captors, the father of my children had found it, begged me not to watch it, but I had to see if it was real. I wish I had listened to him. It was awful. Ill try to see if I can find the link he found to watch it and Ill get back to you. ok?

Oh, try not to worry about what others say, some are more loveable than they like to let on. ;)

Truly,
Joeanna

oh, it took me a bit but I tracked it down. Keep in mind that there is quite a bit of propaganda about it being real ... some sites think its an evil plot of the zionist who want to distract from palestine (I couldnt stop laughing at that one) ... theres another site that claims the CIA is behind it to make up believe in terrorism-yeah ok, but heres the link to download the actual videa ... I will warn you, it is graphic and disturbing. http://www.thememoryhole.org/war/berg_killing.wmv

joanna,
i have to applaud you for your great reply. You are right- yes its bad what Nixon and Kissinger said but ya being objective every country and every head of state gets insulted at some point in their career.
<b>"would rather be called a bitch than to have my head cut off on the internet for all to see."</b>Is there a case where this took place??

<b>"Reflection of prior bad acts and an apology is far better than not reflecting at all. Without reflection of ones action, one can not grow. This is how we learn as a species, some grow, some wither and die."</b>Very true!! It might have taken Kissinger a long time but he did have the maturity to apolgies I didnt take that point into consideration before. Well what i have learned today is to be more objective, but its hard to hear your country insulted now i understand Trysso, henry and you much better. So for the future i will try not to be too harsh....

But the difference in the variety of replies on this topic is that Joanna was polite and backed up her points which i strongly recommend Tryssborn and henry as well!!

Dear Pupri,

The Nixon era has to be looked at as a whole. The vietnam war was not exaclty ending completely, there was great unrest in our country with the civil rights movements and what was called the "counter-culture" spitting on our own soldiers that did their duty. Mnay of the old political machines such as Gov. Daly were being upheaved and then comes watergate. Nixon was alot of things, but he was the only one who could go to China. Politics is not a pretty business. I guess I would rather be called a bitch than to have my head cut off on the internet for all to see. Not saying thats what the people of India are doing, just comparitively speaking. Reflection of prior bad acts and an apology is far better than not reflecting at all. Without reflection of ones action, one can not grow. This is how we learn as a species, some grow, some wither and die.

We all called Nixon "tricky Dick", so we have no qualms with pointing a finger at our own selves. Just not everyone agrees in this country, and that is a right we observe as a freedom. It may seem distasteful, but it is a freedom I enjoy. The right to disagree and the right to say so without being hauled off and shot somewhere.

We Americans have a multitude of Ideas, but it is the majority vote that wins. We then, must protest against the winning vote if we feel that strongly about it, write our elected officials and raise as much noise as we can. That does not garauntee that it will change anything, but that is our democracy. I dont think any head of any state can say that it has never used foul language--especially towards America. We have had effigies of our president burned along with our flags. We get over it.

We dont get apologies, either.
Just a thought,
Joeanna

mcds4,
What does offhand profanity have to do with anything? Nixon was known to use profanity all the time when president. Where is the news here?
Change of subject. Click onto MEMRITV and watch the insane vulgarity of Arab television with english translations.

Pupri
a witch and old bitch sounds very similar in journalistic terms, or they could have simply been making a story out of nothing. I have to agree with HH considering the times being spoken about, what apology and why.
Please be gentle

Read the link. I don't see why Kissinger felt that an apology was necessary.
