henry_hart,

["misspelled missives"]

Now how many times can you quickly say 'misspelled missives' without making a mistake?

You seem to like alliteration. Your arguments bear the same characteristic, repetition of flawed reasoning and assertions without underlying fact. In the words of the brothers, 'the same ol, same ol'.

As for misspelling, I can only say that misconceived but correctly spelt posts, which are your speciality, deserve pride of place - in the rubbish bin!

I have never tried to hide my feelings toward you, my little, lovey, lacey parasol. I love you! Who else's buttons are so deliciously and consistently pushable? And in return, I'm met with hatred and bile-filled, misspelled missives. It is to weep.

Forlornly,

Henry

henry_hart,

["All the best, you hate-filled little parasol".]

Henry, you do not realize how your use of language betrays your real sentiments. The give away in this instance is your use of the adjective 'little' beside 'parasol'. When this word is used in such a context, it usually indicates some endearment. You obviously can't hide your true feelings.

I don't think you have much acquaintence with psychology ( or much else for that matter) as you would have realized what you were doing.

One of your hates I left out is my own hate? What??

Thanks, tho, for confirming my point: I did indeed neglect to mention myself, fdbjr, Iron Mike, and anyone else you clearly don't like or agree with as people you specifically hate.

You also apparently loathe dictionaries.

And you're right: Mike does make a lot of good points. It is hard to keep track of them.

All the best, you hate-filled little parasol.

henry_hart,

["Sure you do, Brolly. After all, hate is an ideology. So far, you seem to hate the U.S. in general and our current administration in particular; Israel; Tony Blair and anyone who agrees with/supports/voted for him; any U.S. resident who supports the war in Iraq; any U.S. resident who voted for Bush; and anyone who disagrees with you.

Have I left anyone out?"]

Sure you have henry. You have left out YOUR OWN hate. Your hatred of the Iraqis. All the Iraqis killed in the 'shock and awe bombing'. All the Iraqis killed by the intra community strife which was certain to result from the US invasion and the clear attempt to foster this strife by settting the Kurds, Shias and Sunnis against each other, following the similar 'divide and rule' tactics as you did in the Iraq/Iran war of attrition.

A hatred of allowing the Iraqis to decide on who should own their economy when a clearly fraudulent attempt was made by Paul Bremer to sell off the Iraqi nations economic resources under his notorious Order No. 39. A hatred of the Palestinians getting a viable State of their own, instead of one which is forced upon them and is basically a series of cantons.

I would say you have many hates henry.Your problem is that you only see what you think are other people's and not you own.

You can add the daft fdbjr to the list of my hates. This numskull apparantly has literary ambitions. I bet he is the kind of writer that can only ever get a book published if he pays for it himself. Then he would probably have to give the copies away. Whoever has heard of him?

Oh, to finnish on the right note, I will say it for you, 'Mike has made a good point', although I dont know what it is.

From the Swiss perspective, the nice thing about a non-militaristic US policy is that it leads to situations in which minorities need safe havens in which to deposit their valuaables. No cloud without its silver linging - or gold, if the times are right.

Is that a little below the belt? I'm sorry - not myself today.

Still reeling from the prepoterous brolly's denial of ideological bent.

Iron Mike,

I would not regard neocynic as my ideological comrade because I don't adhere to any particular ideology. She does, however, share some of my views.I can't say that I consciously gave her a pass because of that, but I wouldn't dispute that such a consideration didn't influence me unconsciously. We all have allies or fellow travellers on OD. Henry_hart refers to anything you say as making a good point. I would give you some credit for not joining in this indulgence to any extent.

> I know that you do not wish to give offence but it
> would be interesting to hear you speak out directly
> rather than to let people infer what you are
> thinking.

I would be surprised if Roger takes you up on your offer. I don't think it's giving "offense" that Roger is avoiding, it's "confrontation." It's emotionally safer to simply post an article which reflects your view and let others comment...rewarding with praise those (like you) who take up the flag on his behalf. Remaining detached from the fray allows him the luxury of spreading love and peace to his detractors.

I think that's what irritates Neo. She has called him a "demented clown" and invited him to commit suicide and I didn't see your criticism. And you think what Henry posted was abuse? Could it be that Neo gets a pass because she is your ideological comrade?

;)

Roger,

Disregard henry_hart. If he doesn't like what anyone says about US foreign policy and the Bush administration, he starts to abuse them.

From the character of the articles you have copied to this thread, I would judge that you are unsympathetic to the neoconservative position and that you were totally opposed to the illegal invasion of Iraq. Furthermore I am pretty sure that you don't like the unilateralist and militaristic policy of the US.

I know that you do not wish to give offence but it would be interesting to hear you speak out directly rather than to let people infer what you are thinking.

Leave the arrogant and blind like henry_hart in no doubt as to where you stand.

Roger:

Brolly aside (is that redundant?) Mike makes a good point: So what? This is not the first time a Chinese fire-breather has beaten his breast about Taiwan and the U.S. What do you make of this? And it is probably not the wisest course to allow Brolly to do your, er, interpreting for you. Very few speak his language.

Top Chinese general warns US over attack

China is prepared to use nuclear weapons against the US if it is attacked by Washington during a confrontation over Taiwan, a Chinese general said on Thursday.

“If the Americans draw their missiles and position-guided ammunition on to the target zone on China's territory, I think we will have to respond with nuclear weapons,” said General Zhu Chenghu.
Gen Zhu was speaking at a function for foreign journalists organised, in part, by the Chinese government. He added that China's definition of its territory included warships and aircraft.
