The point is that children must be British and then Muslim, or Jewish, or whatever. Too often Muslims seem to place their religion above their loyalty to the State. That's the problem.

In Britain,so many Roman Catholic and jewish schools were established to serve their local communities, nurture their religious identity and ensure the continuation of their faith practice within generations, while they are enjoying other educaional and academic benefits. The govenement was directly or indirectly supportive of such institutions. Academics, or even politicians hardly questionned the character of education within these establishnments. It could be argued that these "faith" schools were founded without reference to their religious affiliations.
Unfortunately, everytime Muslim communities try to establish their schools(government funded school)There is a heated debate on Islam, gender segregation, resistance to integration, alienation, extremism, terrorism and so forth.
Muslim chidren are British, and only by being quite affirmed, confident and proud of their Islamic Identity that they could particpate fully and contribute to British society.

It is against these socio-political setting, barriers to establishing Muslim schools, learning about Islam as a peaceful religion, acknowledging Islamic education , that the issue of "clash of ignorance" must be understood.

Within a pluralist society, such as Britain???, Muslim parents have the right to teach and develop their children's character according to the teaching and practices of Islam.

Clash of Ignorance

Kilroy was airing views of racist elements in British society. His column was an idiotic rant. The West as it exists today is the product of Islamic science, civilisation, culture and learning. Western history is related to Islam. Westerners are not well informed about history. It is not just Robert Kilroy-Silk who rants against Arab culture and Muslim faith. Prejudice against Islam has become a disease and attacks on Masajid and Muslim cemeteries are now routine. His comments highlight the irrational bases of racism. Muslims are victimized under the cover of ongoing war against terrorism through out the world. One of the teacher’s unions, ATL regards Muslim schools as Osama bin Laden Academies.
