Appearing on three Sunday morning TV shows on 19 August, six days after his departure was <a href="http://online.wsj.com/article/SB118698747711695773.html">announced</a>, he was intent on demonstrating the range of his political, military and literary mastery. Rove rattled off statistics of minority-group voting patterns for President Bush in the 2004 election as if the moment were the apotheosis of the Republican Party.
