Tom Griffin (London, OK): Back in August, Borders and Immigration Minister Liam Byrne provided the theme for our summer limerick competition, when he recalled how "In my conversations around Britain, I met an especially eloquent lady in Edgbaston. She said, ‘We can learn to live together, if we only put our minds to it.’ I think she is right. And I think we should approach this task with an air of great confidence."

OK readers certainly did approach the task in that spirit. not least in the case of the winning entry, which we can now announce below the fold:

I met an eloquent lady in Edgbaston,
But her gene pool was not a deep vast one,
Her comment below,
was tabloid and slow,
"If we only put our minds to it", I hope is her last one.

Congratulations to Dougthedug, who wins a copy of The Athenian Option by Anthony Barnett and Peter Carty.
