The disputed area adjacent to Preah Vihear was well within the Cambodian territory in accordance to France and Siam treaty in 1907.
If Thailand really understands the nature of treaty and respects it like in any other western countries (such as its big brother, the United States), once you sign a contract (or treaty) you honor and adhere to it until both parties mutually decide to do away with it.
In the last decade in the United States, many people lose their houses and life long savings because they were involved in an investment they did not fully understand. Because of the contract they signed, they had no choice but bite the bullet and still go on with their lives.

The treaty in 1907 between France and Siam was by no means a treaty by force the way Thailand would like to portrait it. The disputed area adjacent to Preah Vihear is only 4.6 square kilometers and it is part of Cambodia per the treaty.

To suggest the area to become a free zone is utterly wrong without any merits. Since Thailand always stress on peaceful means to resolve the dispute, it should honor the treaty and stop bickering on it . Given the fact that the vast majority of Thailand was part of the Khmer Empire until a few centuries ago, recognizing the 4.6 km2 as rightfully part of Cambodia is a very good deal to Thailand. It will not only promote peace but also prosperity and harmony between the two peoples.

People may feel I am a stupid person stating that my Thai people are crazy about its history.

What I want to say is that You should give your stupid ambition because history is history. We cannot deny it.
The temple Preah Vihea belongs to Cambodia. This is what I learned and research from my study, and the world also know that thai people are now so crazy.

Mark Manlapaz on "Cory Aquino and democracy in the Philippines"

To: the Filipino People

The election on May 2010 gives us Filipinos an opportunity to reverse the culture of corruption, unethical and immoral conduct, and self-serving antics of our politics. With the death of President Corazon Aquino, who embodied the true meaning of leadership through her selfless love for our people, we are awaken with the crop of politicians and officials running our government --- futile, incompetent, corrupt, and to an extent have already lost the moral ascendancy to govern. Our government was created under her (Cory Aquinos) watch with the purpose of empowering Filipinos through self-determination and democracy. In our current situation, the same cannot be said of our government. Few people determine our fate as a country; with their self-serving means and enriching themselves leaving the rest of our people suffer from poverty, hunger, unemployment and social injustices. This is not the vision of Ninoy and Cory for our nation.

Through the incoming presidential elections, we are once again called to unite and rally around the values of democracy, equality and nationalism. But to whom shall we rally with? Who will be the leader who will be our guide to realize the vision of Ninoy and Cory? With the current slate of presidentiables, you cannot help but be dismayed --- we can only choose the lesser evil, just like the previous elections. The Filipino people have the right to be presented with candidates with character and strong values. The fight for the incoming election will be the ideas of Ninoy and Cory against the politics of cronyism, social injustice, corruption and total lack of competence of our officials. It will be democracy versus its fake and corrupted version which we have now.

Fellow Filipinos, I call upon you to petition and urge the son of Cory and Ninoy to continue their unfinished work by being the leader of our country come June 30, 2010. Just like his mother, Senator Benigno Aquino III, popularly called Noynoy, is reluctant to take power. Unlike the current aspirants who view the presidency as a prize and a privilege, I believe that Noynoy, just like his parents, sees power as a way to serve people, to alleviate their suffering, to bring them opportunities so they may realize their full potential. With the opposition so fractured, Noynoy being their candidate would unite them and will lead us to stop the current administration from further destroying our democracy. He will bring dignity back to the Presidency through simplicity, humbleness and by providing inspiration to our people.

I'm calling upon you, my countrymen, to urge Noynoy to run and fight the status quo, and finally bring real change and reforms to our country and society. Please pass this petition and ask your friends and family to sign. Please include a short message to encourage Noynoy to run for the presidency this election.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned

First of all the Cambodian people were the one's who built preah vihear with all of our hearts, soul, flesh and blood. so why would the cambodian people build a temple on someone elses land and not want to claim it? would you like someone to take credit for your work? Most of thailand belong to cambodian anyway. Many centuries ago we lost our land to the thai because of our king not because of the people. Thai think just because of the khmer rouge alot of our history will easily be erase but they are wrong because we know our truth.Thai thinks that they can take whatever they want, we have every right to claim what belong to us.

First of all cambodian people were the ones who built the temple, so why would cambodian people want to build something on another country's land? Second of all, only cambodians people know their own countries history. Last but not least, centuries ago the cambodian king lost alot of the cambodian land to the thai. Thai people have most of the cambodian land and now want to take more of what is not theirs. It seem that alot of the truth was stretched and washed away since the khmer rouge took over making lots die to lots fleeing the country. The truth is always going to remain in the hearts of cambodian people. I'm glad to see that the cambodian people are fighting for what is their's because the cambodians work hard with there flesh and blood to build preah vihear for there own country not for someone else to try to claim it. We are stronger and more united as a country.
