Dear readers and members of openDemocracy,

Many of you in the US will be able to give to us and benefit from a tax deduction in 2007 - please contribute to our "Think Long Term" campaign in the last 4 days of 2007 to take advantage of our 501c3 status in the US.

Many thanks, and with very best wishes for 2008,

Tony Curzon Price

PS - In our series of "Think Long Term" editorial pieces, I would like to recommend Paul Rogers' latest article: "A Century on the Edge: 1945-2045". Paul takes the big picture on the man-made threats that lie ahead. He concludes with a challenge for us:

"... it is the period through to around 2015 that is the key. If genuinely major changes are made in that time - perhaps through a unique combination of citizen action and political acumen - then the prospects could be good. By 2045, the world may have learned both to control adverse technologies and safeguard the biosphere."

openDemocracy will be there to do its bit.
