This isn't the sort of thing society grows out of. It's the sort of thing that society grows into

how to end elite control and save world

my dream of building a particaptory society is based on grassroots organizing through volunteering. I have planned out how this new spiritual society could replace consumerism and capitalism. We wouldn't need money, private property, or representative politics. We could create a direct democracy using the internet and give communities the control over the land. Imagine a internet based democracy where everyone can deliver the next presidential speech. This new utopia would grow their own food in gardens. Remember God gave us a Garden in the begining. If we want to save the world we must perserve it. Capitalism seeks to exploit and profit of it and us. We are in desperate need now of a drastic driven harmonious intervention. Are you willing to save the world or stop mass extinction from occuring as it has unchecked. Remember that you must start low to climb a mountain. We must begin all over again in the garden.

No more utopias, please. They do more harm than polluters.

300 million people speechifying at the same time. That would be cacophonous.

Remember God kicked us out of the Garden.

I'm confused. Do you want us to grow carrots in our backyards, or climb Mount Everest?

Only if God allows us back in it.

The smokey haze

How I miss those bygone days, sitting around the dorm room, on the
tattered couch that we found tossed out at the side of the street,
smoking rope and guzzling Busch returnable long necks, discussing
utopia.  Time to wake up and get a real job, son.  Capitalism
awaits.  And it crushes fools and dreamers.

Such foolishness indeed

There is more to reality than commerce, capitalism commenced with a dream of Adam Smith and persisted with another dream of Friedrich Von Hayek and to equate dreaming with foolishness bespeaks only of the foolishness and imaginative poverty of those making the association.

Utopia

Sorry, I meant to edit this, but I did not get around to it. I
should have said, "day dreamers" rather than "dreamers." I am all
in favor of dreamers, who work hard to turn dreams into reality.
People like Edison, Gates, Henry Ford.

However, I do equate fools with day dreamers, who, by my definition, visualize some utopian fantasy which cannot possibly be turned into reality. A vision of "particaptory society is based on grassroots organizing through volunteering" with a "new utopia (which) would grow their own food in gardens." (My day dream involving me, Sharon Stone, and a giant vat of banana pudding has as much hope of becoming reality) Under what motivation will all earthy inhabitants volunteer to become gardeners? Modern farming feeds billions of people because capitalism rewards efficiency with financial gain. If feeding the world becomes dependant on volunteer gardens, we will all starve to death in the dark. Get real.

not everyone has the same

not everyone has the same idea of a utopia. so in order to have your dream of a utopia you would be oppressing someone else.

I just don't get the connection with nekkid wimmin and foodstuffs. What's wrong with the simple pleasures? Do people have to put chocolate topping on EVERYTHING these days??
