If I did it: An Extremist's point of view on Karachi Blast (Oct 18) - by patEXpat

Posts:

Everybody has a theory about who did it and Benazir allegedly even knows the mastermind and who planned the killing. O J Simpson and Fox Network received a lot of thrashing for book and show "*If I did it" *about how OJ Simpson would have killed his wife had he done it. Well.. this is an extremist's version of "If I did it". For the weak hearted, please beware that the arguments represent extremist viewpoints and you may find them disgusting. We are extremists. Allegedly we kill innocents. We also kill indiscriminately. However, our killings or whatever killings are attributed to us are not pointless. There is always an objective and we plan to achieve that objective whether its the creation of chaos, rising up of the population, or elimination of the opponent. There could be two reasons to attack Benazir if we attacked her: 1) Kill her or 2) Scare her. The bomb achieved neither. You could say thats because we failed to execute it correctly. I will reply to this point a few paragraphs down. However, the question to ask is if the plan was executed successfully, who actually benefited? The extremists didn't. From my limited world view, only two institutions benefited. 1)Benazir (being autocratic in nature - PPP and Benazir are the same. No PPP without Benazir). She might have lost 150 votes but she has gained 150,000 sympathy votes and world attention. 2) Musharraf (Current establishment). I remember educated people in blogs and on websites talking about mobilizing and bringing an era of democracy and protesting against Musharraf highhandedness in clearing BB of her charges or dealing with corrupt people. Now all of those educated people are afraid to get out of houses or to join rallies or to protests. Killing Benazir could have been achieved easily had we wanted to do that. We are not afraid of Benazir. She is not even on our radars. Have you guys ever wondered why has Musharraf started travelling in Helicopters. Why does a Corps Commander in Karachi travels with a 17 vehicle convoy. Why does Shortcut Aziz do the groundbreaking of bridges in different cities right in Prime Minister House? They know that we are getting better and better at our killing. Obviously we can't be as good as MQM as they are used to attacking only unarmed or unprepared people. Had Benazir known that she is on our hit list, she would not have dared come to Pakistan at all. I am not denying the fact that the attack was a suicide one. One can present a lot of circumstantial evidence or the lack of evidence to prove that it was suicide attack. What I am suggesting is that it was not carried out by the Taliban extremists. When you compare extremists, Taliban could be classified as Moderate Extremists in contrast to Iraqi Alqaeda which would be like Extremist Extremists. We, the local moderate extremist elements, inflict minimal collateral damage. Rather Pakistan Army and NATO forces have a worst record of killing innocent citizens (reported as collateral damage) as reported recently and justified in local English language dailies. There is a reason that locals don't throw out Talibans i.e., Talibans have never hurt the local population directly. Our attacks have been directed at specific targets. However, Iraqi Alqaeda is a different league altogether. Due to limited information available on them, it appears that they don't care how many innocents/bystanders get killed as long as they achieve their objectives. The havoc and damage caused by the current blast indicates that it was not at all the work of local Taleban extremists. It could have been but the track record and methodology does not substantiate the claim. Finally, we don't have anything to fear from Benazir. Rather with her corruption record and the way she starts political recruitment in public sector organizations etc. its the common man who has to fear lest she brings down the standard of living. Benazir can't hurt as any more than Musharraf who has the backing of Army. And if the army is against Benazir attacking Talebans, Benazir can't do a thing. Despite being the Chief Executive twice, she couldnot get clearance to visit Kahuta. Nawaz Sharif didn't know that Army was planning to attack at Kargil (transcripts are available at CNN about Musharraf's call from China confirming the ignorance of PM about the Kargil). Benazir may make tall claims about allowing US attacks inside Pakistan (like that is not already happening) but we don't consider her a threat at the moment. Now, the final part of email where I will dwell upon how I would have done it if I wanted to eliminate Benazir. I would not go into details revealing the tactics but I will try to prove that there were easier and better ways to achieve the purpose (if that was THE purpose). The convoy crawled through Sharae Faisal where there are countless flats and windows facing the road. She was not behind the bullet proof glass throughout the day. I could have selected any of the flats and placed a sniper over there to take a direct aim at her. Even if she remained behind the glass shield and the bullet failed to reach her, I could have targetted many of her party leaders which were standing beside her without any protective cover. Though it would not have killed Benazir but it would have been like leaving the head and killing the limbs of a body. The head can't work without a body and that would have achieved the objective but in an unorthodox way. The reason for suicide bombing in our case is that the government use mobile jammers so we can't detonate using mobile phones. However, it has been revealed in news reports that mobile jammers were not used with the convoy. Strange considering the fact that both the government and benazir claimed to have prior intimation of such threats. Everyone knew the route of the convoy and it was informed long time back that she would be travelling in a rocket proof container. Hence, a suicide bomber trying to attack her would not do so when she is in the container. And secondly, assuming that she would be standing on the container since morning, it is unreasonable to assume that she would still be there after 12 hours on the container top. Any such attack should consider that she would have retired to inside and be well protected. So a successful suicide attack would consist of multiple attempts. First one to scare her out her container and the second one to actually kill her. It could have been done when she is leaving the container for the evacuation vehicle or when the evacuation vehicle takes her to the safe house (Bilawal House) through the other roads. Obviously, the evacuation vehicle is not expected to be rocket proof or bomb proof. We have done much better job of attacking Musharraf than this half hearted attempt of killing 150 party workers, police men and injuring 500 others. But at the end of it all, you also can have your own conspiracy theories about who did it and why he did it. But most of all, the question that needs to be asked who gains by killing her? At least, we the local extremists don't.
