Beyond 2012 Catastrophe or Awakening?

Beyond 2012 Catastrophe or Awakening? BY GEOFF STRAY Over the last two thousand years, there have been literally dozens of proposed dates upon which the world was expected to end. Around 30 CE, Jesus is reported to have said “Judgement Day” would come within the lifetimes of his audience. This is the failed prophecy on which all the others were based. However, for hundreds of years before this, the Hebrew people had a tradition of prophecy. Prophets such as Ezekiel and Daniel had predicted that one day the dead would come out of their graves. This concept is preserved in Christianity and Islam, who also expect a Day of Judgement, also known as Yawm al-Ba’th, the day of Rising From the Grave. There is a lot of talk about 2012 being the latest predicted doom date. This one really stands out because all the others for the last 2,000 years have been based on the Bible, whereas this one comes primarily from the calendars and prophecies of the ancient Maya civilisation. If we can disconnect ourselves from our Judaeo-Christian mind-set, then we shall be better able to look at the subject without projecting those patterns onto it. I'm reminded of the old Peter Cook sketch where the prophet of doom and his faithful troop up to the top of a mountain every day to witness the end of the world as prophesied - they then part amicably with the intention of doing the same thing tomorrow.

My prediction is that a new date for the end of the world will be announced in 2012.

Any predictions how soon we will re-open Limbo?

It seems we are IN Limbo now that all forums are merged.  I have been saturated with work issues all week  I come back to find the largest changes to the forum in five years.  Still trying to figure it all out.  Seems like profiles and mail features are gone.

Mike ... profiles and mail _will_ be re-instated. Slow migration work made a little more complicated by the fact that we had - from a technical point of view - split off the forums last year.

But I think that Limbo should return, no?

I think Solve will fill the forum and recreate the frustration that required Limbo in the first place.  If he has unfettered access, the forum will quickly appear to be a fringe site with no credibility.  I also discovered the "Report To Moderator" link appears to go nowhere.  I got an undeliverable auto-reply.

Might be worth people adding a "notspam" tag to their threads until moderation gets sorted out - save them getting lost amongst all the others.
