Alas Keith. We do have a sort of of half way house to deleted called unpublishing. I had rounded up the day's baddies into this and went into one of them to double check that it was spam. Unfortunately I hadn't realised that on coming back out the software puts you back into the published comments. I then ticked the box to select all and....aaarrrrggh!!!
