I can't shake the feeling that this whole discussion group is moot. I'm not religiously or ethnically connected in any way to the Palestinian/Israeli conflict (other than feeling that the Palestinians are getting a pretty raw deal) but I can't for the life of me see how Israel can survive more than a decade or two into the future. The widespread availability of large and small-scale nuclear devices and delivery systems is coming to pass. Not just from Iran, but possibly Pakistan, N. Korea, Russia, China...it can't be stopped. When Hezbollah, Hamas and all the myriad splinter groups get access to these weapons how is it possible that they won't use them? I realize that Israel has about 200 nuclear warheads and delivery systems, but in a nuclear exchange, Israel's small size and population puts it at a fatal disadvantage. Israel may kill 100 times as many Arabs as the Arabs kill Israelis, but when the mushroom clouds dissipate and the dust settles, Israel will be gone and the Arabs will still be there. I would guess that within the next few years Israelis will see the writing on the wall and many will start emigrating (the good news for them is that they won't suffer the fate of the displaced Palestinians living in squalid refugee camps for 50 years, the Israelis can just move to Florida and continue living the good life).... Am I missing something? I would really like to hear someone respond with a plausible scenario for the continued existence of Israel in a Middle East with readily-available nuclear devices.
It seems like Israel's only recourse would be to open its borders, allow the Palestinians back in, return their confiscated property, pay reparations and try to co-exist with a majority Arab population..(probably have to change the name and the flag, though)

You will find your worries for Israels future reinforced, however not exactly because of the nuclear threat to it.
Israels Grand Strategy seemingly fails to adress its longterm strategic weaknesses.
Please come back and post any impulses you get from it.

Uh, not quite. You fail to consider so many things its almost sophomoric. Do you really think that a nuclear war that would erase israel would not mean the end of the world? Suffice it to say that "when the dust settles", all that will be left is the cockroaches.
