Islamic Insults - History Repeating

The first insult on Islam and the prophet Mohammed by Europeans, took place back in the 800's when Muslims ruled over Spain. When the Islamic leaders tried to 'encourage' the citizens of Spain to take up the Islamic faith, a few, instead hurled insults at the prophet Mohammed and used martyrdom as a way of driving out the Islamic invaders. One of those who openly insulted the prophet was then canonized by the Roman Catholic Church after his death. But more importantly and perhaps to Europe's pride, it was a direct result of these early insults, that the death penalty was introduced by the Muslims for insulting the prophet, back in 850 and still remains apart of Islam today. Feeling similar oppressive pressure from those 'peaceful' Islamic communities within Europe, a protest image was again created to openly criticize the prophet to emphasis his more violent teachings. That a number of Fatwas have been issued with orders to kill these cartoonists - without any real protest from the Islamic communities within Europe and the US - shows something of the violent nature of a community, which insists that it be called peaceful.
