Mr. Norquists privatizations

Posts:

Mr. Norquist says he will be happier when the U.S. government figures out how to privatize the military. I have a suggestion: let them earn their keep by looting and pillaging, as in the good old days. It will keep the military rich and the U.S. feared. Or: privatize the military?? Is this man serious?

Re: Mr. Norquists privatizations
Norquist doesn't qualify with any sensible person, left or right, as sensible. He's a Frank Burns-type strawman for any Alan Alda-wannabe reading him -- which is just what the openDemocracy editors wanted.

Not so...I missed your name tjcass7880--agreed with the "sensible" clause, however, Mr. Norquist is absolutely dialed in with the conservative party. Started with Newt's "Contract with America," which then became a weekly Wednesday morning thing in DC. Actually,I believe Tom Delay would be quite upset by your remarks as would the President considering the tax-cut and Medicare coup. Besides, we laugh about privatizing the military, but that is happening to a very real extent. Here's a link to an article of that opinion: http://www.ipsnews.net/interna.asp?idnews=24883 "Business Booming for Soldiers of Fortune" by Katherine Stapp NEW YORK, Jul 30 (IPS) - Despite scandals over human rights abuses and war profiteering, private military contractors are expanding their presence overseas, and may even be involved in helping to draft the next U.S. defence budget.
