The Madrid event in my view is a bit more complex than meets the eye, on the surface we got terrorist that created havoc at one precise day, with the hope of a defined result. The date chosen leads to speculations, as 9/11, 3/11, and elections in the USA are as well in the month of November, could even be further investigated and numbers could add and subtract at will. However, one of the most interesting outcomes is the gathering of the minds, in other words the collective mind. Madrid changed directions in a global perspective, and here is were the interesting point lays. The opposition if you like had inundated the mind of Spanish citizens for the past 10 years with information leading to his benefit. Most governments use the media to their own benefit! What took place here is that the shock created rapture from the pre programmed pattern presented by the media and the men in power. On the other hand, a well-laid pattern of information laid down in the past 10 years became to a momentary halt. This emotional upheaval ruptured from the preprogrammed grip, revealed a sense of injustice more accurate a sense of betrays as the government keep insisting on the faulty ETA. This democratic awakening was expressed by the vote. What remained hidden was the behavior of the PP and the Aznar government. Their mask fell and the true face of the prime minister was on the open revealing his real interest; which eventually are not any different than the Bush administration, France, Italy or any other untruthful government, regardless of their behavior things continue as usual and the awakening moment was once again laid to rest. This democratic breeze push itself up north and the French election witness a similar outcome. On the other hand this shows as well that it is the people who do have the power to chose a president, keep him in power and dispose of him if they wish, they could as well do this with corporations or multinationals, as they do are the ones who keep the multinationals in power. This power grid is envelope and execute by the main media conglomerates, and their owners. in North America, South America and other parts of the world.
These apertures of democracy are here to be taken into account and the small media sources as Open Democracy, independant-Media or Move-Organization for example do have the possibility to reach the true consciousness of the individual.
