It’s not quite the clarion call of Reagan at the Brandenburg Gate. It’s a legal opinion, not a political speech, but the illegality of the parts of the Wall in Occupied Teritory has been clearly stated. As I read the summary of the opinion of the International Court of Justice, it says: 1) The construction of the Wall in Occupied Territory is illegal and the parts of it in Occupied Territory must be dismantled. 2) Any laws or regulations passed by Israel to authorize construction must be cancelled. 3) All states have an obligation to assist in the implementation of the judgment, within the limits of the UN Charter and international law. 4) It’s the responsibilty of the UN to consider further action. http://www.icj-cij.org/icjwww/ipresscom/ipress2004/ipresscom2004-2_summary_mwp_20040709.htm What action should the UN recommend? Particularly, since the United States is the key player, what should it do? Note that, even Judge Buergenthal, in his dissenting opinion, accepted that construction in Occupied Territory is illegal.
