Steady State Economics !The World it teaming with an excessive number of human beings. India is suffocating in it's own waste. China is trying to raise the "standard of living" of its own citizens, while at the same time the Western powers, Japan and Australia are trying to retain and increase their domination in the field of economics. All of this is resulting not only in the "Global worming", BUT also in constand dying off of many species of plant and animal kingdoms. Natural resources are so overexploited that there are fuewer and fewer places on the globe where there are any left. All of this is the result of the MENTALITY OF GROWTH ! During the past century or more, it is assumed that the only measure of the healthy "economics" is if one's monetary wealth is contantly GROWING and doubling every 10 to 20 years !! Only an INSANE mantality can think that this kind of behavior will not lead ultimately to the complete COLLAPS of the biosphere, and thus end the ability of the Earth to support the demands of human activities. The main SANE alternative to this is if we addopt the Steady State Economics, which has finally appeared in workd of many prominnent demographers and economists. Just write in Steady State Economics on your network search engine and see what it is all about. In SHORT, it states that human beings must realize that the ONLY SUSTAINABLE way to live on a FINITE planet is to CURB any growth and instead work on IMPROVING the quality of our lives, through wiser and less demanding use of the remaining resources. It might be TOO LATE to do this successfully, but it is better to try to do it immediately, and hope that the pervious MANIA OF GROWTH might have left some resources to manage int the future. I hope to hear many of other's views on this issue, and to find together the path to saving us all. Best regards to all freethinkers, Dankusti
