In the "new age" of suicide bomber's, it is apparent that many target's will be on the horizon. These people are coming up with more and more ingenious way's to deliver carnage. I have been waiting since 9/11 for the other shoe to drop. The "Planners" of these attacks, recruit very skilled bomb maker's. It's scary to think of all the "soft" target's that are out there. Why hasn't the U.S. been hit again? I wish I had an answer. The terrorist's are very patient. We definitely will get hit, it"s just a question of when. The Nation's Security is definitely better, but has many holes. I live in upstate N.Y., two hours from the Canada/U.S. border. It's a giant sive. There are so many roads unchecked, coming into the U.S., it's ridiculous. I guess the only way people can actively participate in securing their areas, is to remain vigilant. Reporting strange (persons) or activities, getting involved. In this day and age, we need all the extra eyes helping.

As you know now the US has just escaped a massive terror attack. Personlay I believe that the reason why suicide bombings aren't carried out daily in the US is because this will alienate the American people aswell as those in Europe and bring a huge clampdown on muslims and arab Americans. This would make large scale attacks far more difficult to carry out and this is the chosen tactic of Al-Qaida. There are other reasons but it would appear that support for jihaid terror abroad is ok and contempt for western decadence is fine so long as no terror attacks are commited that would deprive muslims of the right to participate in and enjoy that decadence.

Probably the only way to stop the extreme ideologies that lead to terrorism is to stop portraying all muslims as fundamentalists and to give more press time to modern Islamic intellectuals. The problem with Islam is that it is only read (in the Middle East) in Arabic. Many Muslims do not speak Arabic fluently, and thus have virtually no idea that they are being taught lies in the madrasas. Also, I'd say that we (the U.S.) need to develop better diplomatic ties with Middle Eastern nations in general, and sadly, the only way that's going to happen is if we ever stop letting Israel dictate our foreing policy in Eastern Affairs.

And how do you know this? Do you speack arabic? Do you speak Urdu and can read the Quran?

How does standing up for an under-represented group make me a bigot?? I suppose in my criticism of Israel's zest for war-mongering I'm also somehow an anti-semite. People always revert to the racist card when they don't like someone else's opinion.
As to the Koran being primarily in Arabic, I don't have to speak Arabic or Urdu to know that, you imbecile. It is a common and well-known fact. Read Understanding Islam, by Lippman, a very respected source on the religion.

I never said that the root cause of terrorism is Israel. That was your blind defensiveness putting words into my mouth. Terrorism is caused by many many things: ignorance, lack of education, misconceptions about the Western World, desperation...
I know that most imams teach the Koran in Arabic because it's a fact that Arabic is very difficult to translate perfectly into other languages. Why wouldn't fanatical imams want to teach the Koran in its purest form? Also, I saw proof in the book I referred to, and on a documentary I watched the other day. I don't recall the name.
I don't understand what Bin Laden has to do with my citing Lippman as a source. Don't bother clarifying; I'm going out of town and won't be here to read it.

What I like to do is read apost and respond as I go along. It gives me more of a sence of where the other poster is coming from. You write from the hip and I'll respond the same way and I can sence something coming. Its called more excuses. So the translation is correct if it suits you? Lets have a look....

Are you saying fanatical imams are right and that those who claim Islam is a religion of peace are the ones to have changed the real meaning? The point being that you believe the views of one person most probably non islamic but ignore the words/teachings of an islamic leader. Why is that? Also, are you off to the moon? I'm not sure why you're so angry with me for expressing my opinions. I may not like what you have to say and I may see your views as being somewhat racially motivated, but I wouldn't tell you to "fuck off". I'm worried that you're taking this website a little bit too seriously, friend. You keep accusing me of being a bigot and yet nothing I have said even amounts to being racist. I have never said anything bad about Jews in general, and if I referred to Israel in a post, I was obviously referring to the government. I'm sorry that you can't seem to understand anything that you have read and about which you are arguing so vehemently. How sad for you. Many community colleges here offer a reading comprehension course...I don't know how they do it in Israel, but it might make all the difference for you.
