Talkin tomorrow
The last fifty years need little introduction. So...im gonna spare the details on the bloodshed and the death tolls. Lets talk tomorrow.
I would really like to understand how the people of pakistan view the future shaping up. Do they want war or peace? Are claims of Kashmir purely politically driven? Does the 'Aam Admi' in pakistan really care about kashmir? Because in India, frankly speaking, most of us dont give a damn while a select few behave asthough it means the world. This includes the Shiv Sena cartoons including Bal Thakre, some BJP loyalists and any ruling government.
Here are the questions -
1. All Pakistanis Ive interacted with seem to make believe that Kashmir is really not too much of an Issue back home and that people just dont care about it. Most educated Pakistanis say its simply not possible to keep spending the tax payer's money on defence and do little for the aam pakistani. If this is true, Can the pakistani government (in theory) take Kashmir off the political agenda and expect to get away from the wrath of the pakistani people?
2. What does the Aam Pakistani want in terms of the kashmir issue. Where does he think it blongs?
3. What obligates Pakistan to fuel the war against India ( please defend your cause instead of denying it). If it is Islam, then why not fight the war in Iraq instead of becoming a 'key ally'?
Its easy to pass a judgement based on media reports. Afterall, one needs to wonder if there is anything called as the 'free press'! But sure there has to be some rational pakistani explaination for the choices they make!
From the other side of the border. But on the same page as justice.
peace.
