The silly semantic of Iraq's elections
On a number of postings the complaint has been made that the January elections in Iraq were not valid merely because of the presence of foreign troops. This is a case of silly semantics. One does not lead to the other.
Elections were held on post-WWII Germany, Italy and Japan while they were under occupation. Democracy in those former dictatorships is an accomplished fact. Why is a different set of logic being applied in Iraq?
