Zimbabwe: Economic Meltdown
On the 25th of June, president Robert Mugabe slashed all prices by about 50%. Zimbabweans stormed shops to buy whatever they found on shelves. Shop owners have been unable to purchase a new stock. Private abattoirs have lost licenses to operate, because they did not comply to the price slash. From the 1st of August, groceries import will be banned by Mugabe's regime.
People of Zimbabwe flee their country because they face mass starvation and civil war. Between 2000 and 3000 people a day cross illegally the South African border. The SA Army has already arrested more than 5000 immigrants. There are cases of gunfire exchange between soldiers and heavily armed groups of border-crossers.
Regions of South Africa near the border with Zimbabwe experience increase of murders, rapes, and robberies. Home Affairs officials are using name human tsunami while talking about current events.
Something must be done very quickly, otherwise the World will witness the apocalypse in Zimbabwe.
