Andrea Major is Associate Professor of British Colonial History, University of Leeds. Her work focuses on Britain's relationship with India in the late eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, with a particular focus on social and gender issues. She is the author of Slavery, Abolitionism and Empire in India, 1772–1843.
