About Edgar Şar

Edgar Şar is currently a doctoral researcher in Political Science at Boğaziçi University, Istanbul. He graduated from Marmara University and received a Masters degree in Political Science from Boğazici University with his thesis “The Relationship Between Secularism and Democracy: The Case of Turkey in the 2000s”. Now he focuses on secularism in contemporary political theory and state-religion-society relations and their impact on democratization in Turkey and the Middle East. Edgar is currently a contributor at Medyascope.tv, and co-founder of the İstanbul Political Research Institute (İstanPol).
