John Clayton is a social geographer based at Northumbria University in North East England. His research interests are around themes of identity, geography and exclusion. He is currently involved in research looking at the meaning of 'austerity' for new migrants to Britain.

Tom Vickers is a social scientist and activist based in North East England. He is the author of Refugees, Capitalism and the British State: Implications for social workers, volunteers and activists (Ashgate 2012). His current research addresses the meaning of 'austerity' for recent migrants to Britain.
