Julia Lerner grew up in Leningrad and studied in Israel. She is a professor of Ben Gurion University, where she researches the anthropology of knowledge in immigration, post-Soviet culture and Russian-speaking immigration. In 2016-2017, she is a fellow of The European Institutes for Advanced Study, Helsinki.
