Marianne Maeckelbergh is Lecturer in Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology at Leiden University, Netherlands and is the author of The Will of the Many: How the Alterglobalization Movement is Changing the Face of Democracy (Pluto Press, 2009). She has been active in grassroots politics since the early 1990s and is currently working on the film series www.globaluprisings.org.
