About Maureen Purtill

Maureen Purtill is the Program Director for the Graton Day Labor Center in Northern California. She earned her PhD from UCLA in the Department of Urban Planning, and her dissertation research explored the transformative organizing and citizenship practices of domestic workers. She and her partner live with their three year old son in Occidental, California. A pseudonym has been used in this article to protect the identity of the person involved.
