BBC Persian [reports](http://www.bbc.co.uk/persian/iran/story/2005/05/050521%5Fmf%5Fdiary27.shtml?ref=opendemocracy.net) that presidential candidate Mohsen Rezai has launched a new morning newspaper in Tehran named \_Amin\_ (or trusted). Its editor is publicly allied with the candidate.

It's unprecedented that a newspaper publicly announces not only its political leaning, but also the fact that it's going to back a particular candidate.

Mohsen Rezai is the former head of the Revolutionary Guards during most of the eight year Iran-Iraq war in the 80s. He is now a centrist-conservative candidate. Rezai has also been running a news website, \_[Baztab](http://www.baztab.com/?ref=opendemocracy.net)\_ for the past couple of years.
