# Holocaust cartoons & the " West's double standards"

Just as 200 Holocaust cartoons are [currently displayed](http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle%5Feast/4795709.stm?ref=opendemocracy.net) at a Iranian museum in Tehran, voices and opinions about the event are diverse and eclectic.

- The Guardian's Lionel Shriver says the "contest for the cleverest cartoon about the Holocaust is meant to highlight the West's double standards": [she's not outraged](http://www.guardian.co.uk/Columnists/Column/0,,1856105,00.html?ref=opendemocracy.net) and does not want the cartoons to be censored.
- The Jewish Telegraphic Agency reports Koffi Annan's stand ("people need to exercise that right responsibly and not use it as a pretext for incitement, hatred or for insulting beliefs of any community"), while Paris' socialist mayor, Bertrand Delanoe, [openly condemned ](http://today.reuters.co.uk/news/articlenews.aspx?type=worldNews&storyID=2006-08-17T141302Z%5F01%5FL17774345%5FRTRUKOC%5F0%5FUK-IRAN-HOLOCAUST-REACTION.xml&archived=False&ref=opendemocracy.net)the exhibition.
