# Lieberman supporters 'lamonting' their electoral defeat

Ned Lamont won the primary elections for the United States Senate, and a handful of the most [popular political bloggers](http://www.firedoglake.com/?ref=opendemocracy.net) are having a blog-party. Some, like [Eschaton](http://atrios.blogspot.com/?ref=opendemocracy.net), are submerged by hundreds of happy and angry [comments](http://atrios.blogspot.com/2006%5F08%5F06%5Fatrios%5Farchive.html?ref=opendemocracy.net#115510080741069026). And for the gossip-lovers here, Slate magazine had [a good overview](http://www.slate.com/id/2147313/?ref=opendemocracy.net) on the blogosphere's tales of revenge and personal attacks just before the results came in. Conservative blogger Andrew Sullivan [says](http://time.blogs.com/daily%5Fdish/2006/08/joeno.html?ref=opendemocracy.net) Lieberman was "more interested in becoming Rumsfeld's successor than in getting re-elected in blue-state Connecticut".

Lieberman may have been defeated by a 'political unknown', he will still [run as an independent](http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2006/08/09/lieberman/?ref=opendemocracy.net) in November.
