It looks like Microsoft has recently [approached a blogger](http://www.cnn.com/2007/TECH/internet/01/24/microsoft.wikipedia.ap/index.html?ref=opendemocracy.net) to edit Wikipedia entries. Said blogger [blogged the offer](http://www.oreillynet.com/xml/blog/2007/01/an%5Finteresting%5Foffer.html?ref=opendemocracy.net) on his page, citing Micorosft who apparently offered to pay him to post information on the online encyclopedia "correct" what Microsoft claims is erroneous information about [software](http://www.techweb.com/encyclopedia/defineterm.jhtml?term=software&x=&y=&ref=opendemocracy.net) standards. Representatives of companies who write and editentries about their own business is a course a behaviour in complete contradiction with Wikipedia's [conflict of interest](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Conflict%5Fof%5Finterest?ref=opendemocracy.net) guideline. How to fix the problem? A contributor at metafilter.com came up with [an interesting solution](http://www.metafilter.com/mefi/58022?ref=opendemocracy.net#1564420).
