This week has been strangely un-amusing. Perhaps it’s the constant pressure of real-life unfunny political events getting in the way, and the fact that [stock-market crash humour is crap](http://politicalhumor.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm?site=http://cagle.com/news/StockMarketDown/main.asp&ref=opendemocracy.net). Or perhaps, as alluded to last week, the cosmic comedy void that is the half-hour news hour has sucked the life and humour from us all. Still someone tried to blow up Dick Cheney and Steve Bell knew it was good for [a laugh](http://www.guardian.co.uk/cartoons/stevebell/0,,2023150,00.html?ref=opendemocracy.net).  
  
I also now know where I’m off to for [my hols this summer](http://radaronline.com/from-the-magazine/2007/02/lets%5Fgo%5Fbaghdad%5F1.php?ref=opendemocracy.net) – I like deserts.
