# American journalist still captive

[Jill Carroll](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jill%5FCarroll?ref=opendemocracy.net), a freelance reporter working for the Christian Science Monitor newspaper, was kidnapped in Baghdad over two months ago. All indications are that she is still alive. The Monitor has started [a campaign](http://www.csmonitor.com/2006/0113/carroll%5Fupdate.html?ref=opendemocracy.net), using Iraqi television, to distribute [a video](http://www.csmonitor.com/2006/0113/carroll%5Fupdate.html?ref=opendemocracy.net#psavid) asking for Iraqis to help find and free her.
