# The longest discussion in the world?

Well, the longest on openDemocracy for sure. A discussion, prompted by the BBC's [The Power of Nightmares](http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/programmes/3755686.stm?ref=opendemocracy.net) TV series, which has ranged far and wide over months, in marathon style, reached a momentous 1000 posts on 4 March.

The thread's initiator David Thompson commented:

"During this behemoth of a thread, we’ve covered geopolitics, theology, moral absolutes, epistemology, the scientific method, the nature of infinity and nothing, and the choking hazards of metaphorical bagels.
