Ali McGinley is Director of the Association of Visitors to Immigration Detainees (AVID), the national network of volunteer visitors to people held indefinitely under immigration act powers. AVID supports volunteers in every detention centre in the UK, and pushes for reform of the detention system. Ali is also a founding member of the Detention Forum, a network challenging the use of detention in the UK.
