Annabelle Sreberny is Professor of Global Media and Communication in the Centre for Media Studies at SOAS, University of London. She was the President of the International Association for Media and Communication Research from 2008-2012 and the first elected Director of the Centre for Iranian Studies, SOAS, 2010-2011. Her books include Small Media, Big Revolution (1985), Blogistan: The Internet and Politics in Iran (2010) and Cultural Revolution in Iran (with M. Torfeh, 2013). Her latest book Persian Service examines the history of the BBC Persian Services as instruments of British public diplomacy and their entanglements in Irano-British politics (with M. Torfeh, 2014). Her research interests include questions of diasporic community-building and identity-formation.
