Giovanni Picker

Giovanni Picker is a postdoctoral researcher at the Centre for Advance Studies (Sociology), Higher School of Economics in Moscow. He received his Ph.D. in 2009 in Urban Sociology from Milan-Bicocca University; over the last eight years he has been working on the history of urban marginality and urban governance in stigmatized Gypsy neighbourhoods in western and eastern Europe. His recent publications include "Left-wing progress? Neo-nationalism and the case of Romany migrants in Italy" in M.
