Hanne Eggen Røislien is a research professor at the Norwegian Cyber Defence Academy. Her research focuses on military practitioners, in particular cyber officers. She has previously worked as senior researcher at the Norwegian Institute for Defense Studies and the International Peace Research Institute (PRIO), and held postings such as Reports Officer for OCHA in Baghdad in 2003 and in the observers' force Temporary International Presence in Hebron (TIPH) in 2001-2002. Publications include Israelerne [The Israelis] in 2012, Religion and Military Conscription: The Case of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) (Armed Forces & Society April 2013 vol. 39 no. 2) and Bosettere på hellig grunn: En reise blant jødiske nybyggere [On Holy Ground: A Journey Among the Jewish Settlers of the Middle East] (2006). Hanne has a PhD on the military culture of the IDF, and lived and worked in Israel and the Middle East for over six years.
