Immanuel Wallerstein, now at Yale University, has been president of the International Sociological Association and head of the Fernand Braudel Center for the Study of Economies, Historical Systems and Civilizations at Binghamton University (SUNY), where he was distinguished professor of sociology from 1976 until his retirement in 1999.
