Jo-Marie Burt is Director of Latin American Studies at George Mason University and Senior Fellow at the Washington Office on Latin America (WOLA). She was a researcher for the Peruvian Truth and Reconciliation Commission, and has been a visiting professor at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru. She is the author of Political Violence and the Authoritarian State in Peru: Silencing Civil Society (Palgrave, 2007).
