Jody Williams received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1997 for her work banning landmines. She has served as chair of the Nobel Women’s Initiative since it’s launch in January 2006. Williams is also the Sam and Cele Keeper Endowed Professor of Peace and Global Justice at the Graduate College of Social Work of the University of Houston, where she has been a professor since 2003.
