
Katia Chornik is a cultural historian and music scholar. She directs the digital project Cantos Cautivos (Captive Songs, www.cantoscautivos.org). She is the author of Alejo Carpentier and the Musical Text (Routledge, 2015). Her second book, Captive Songs: Music in Political Detention Centres in Pinochet’s Chile, will be published by Oxford University Press in 2023. She has written articles for the BBC, The Guardian and The Economist, among other media outlets.
