L. Leigh Ann van der Merwe is a trans woman of colour from the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa. Her pioneering work includes a published articles on trans feminism in the New Voices of Psychology journal, and on the African Trans Feminist Charter in Transgender Studies Quarterly. She has a Diploma in Community Journalism from the UNISA and is currently enrolled in the postgraduate Public Health program at the University of the Western Cape.
